What Pegman Saw: Yellowstone National Park

Pegman is back! Look for info about this week’s prompt below (following my rant).

But first, a really long rant about the power of storytelling and why Pegman went MIA:

I have learned my lesson: never tempt the fiction gods.

You see, the Treasure Cay prompt on March 10th was actually where I was heading the next day. I imagined myself very clever. Little did I realize what I’d unleashed by doing this and it didn’t take long to discover your stories were happening to me!

First off, it was indeed the Worst WiFi of the World per my story on March 10th. Hence, the reason Pegman was MIA.

Thanks to James’s story Flight 19, I had a harrowing flight into the Abacos, which honestly left me a little disappointed that I didn’t find the Flight 19 guys waiting in the baggage area. I got to see J. Hardy Carroll’s Austin Moke from his Marsh Harbor and The New World. I had a brief encounter with Lavanya’s shark from her story The Man. I experienced a personal reboot a la draliman’s The Future of Love, and had a happy romantic ending of my own, per Lisarey’s Fantasy.

When they say there is power in words, I never realized what shape that power might take!

Considering all the stories that came true, it was a great relief there were no shooter-chasing-FBI-Agents per Eric’s  The Background Search, and I was thankful no one with me suffered any PTSD per Kelvin’s A Spiritual Bombing. But I have to say I was bummed that Dale and Rochelle didn’t turn up, as in Rochelle’s Pilgrimage.

I would say someone should write a story about all this, but that would make it more meta than it already is.

I take this as further proof we are all part of The Matrix.

Okay, enough of that, here’s the prompt:

This week Pegman takes us to Yellowstone National Park in the US. You’ll find both streetview and photo spheres to inspire you. Choose any place within Yellowstone and write 150 words inspired by it. Once your piece is polished, you can share it with others at the link up below:

Have fun and do your best.

Thanks to all who share their stories on Pegman!

Hahaha. Sounds like something straight out of Adam Sandler’s Bedtime stories. That said, I am travelling a lot this week and next too. But yours sounded like an adventure!

  3. HAHA! I loved reading that rant. Sounds like one of my trips where everything that can go wrong does, like getting stranded in St. Louis with no fuel, and a bank card that automatically froze because they saw an out of state purchase…after I’d already told them were were going out of state…grr… Glad to see you’re back. Will capture a pic from yellowstone and then I gotta run, The snow storm is now reaching us and it looks like a whiteout outside the window at the moment. Scarfing breakfast at McD’s (power’s out at home thanks to a transformer blowing it’s top…probably afraid of the storm). Have a good one, hopefully I can get back with a story later

Thanks for mentioning my story “Flight 19” and I’m sorry you missed the guys, but you got there a few days late and they’d already shipped back to Florida for their debriefing. I’m sure once they’re on leave, they will be glad to have a beer or two with you and share their story.
