This week Pegman takes us to the highest peak in the world, Mount Everest, also known as Sagarmatha. Your mission is to write up to 150 words inspired by the location. You’ll find both street path view and photospheres to inspire you.

Once your piece is polished, share it with others at the linkup below. Reading and commenting on others’ work is part of the fun.

The Baths, British Virgin Islands

I don’t know what it’s like where you’re at, but where I am, it’s fifty degrees of miserable. That would be fifty degrees below miserable. Iowa has been enduring an barrage of frigid temps and freezing precipitation. I’ve lost track of how many times school has been cancelled. So, with all this weather misery, I could really use a vacation, which is why Pegman is taking us all to the British Virgin Islands.

I never know what kind of story I will wind up with when I pick a location, but I hope whatever I come up with has the power to warm things up around here!

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to write up to 150 words inspired by this week’s location. You can use the image supplied with the prompt, or take your own tour of the British Virgin Islands using Google Maps. You’ll find a small collection of both streetview and photospheres to inspire you.

Once your piece is polished, share it with others using the link up below. Reading and commenting on others’ work is part of the fun!

Manhattan Island

Welcome to What Pegman Saw, a 150-word weekly writing prompt inspired by the photos found on Google Maps. Yep, that’s really a picture of Manhattan.  Inwood Park, at the very tip of the island, is one of the few places on the island that looks as it did three hundred years ago.
This week you can roam any or all of the five boroughs. There are a thousand stories in the naked city, so bring one back. You can also write a poem, an essay or whatever you feel like writing. Share it with the others and comment on their stories. We ask you keep it to 150 words, but aside from that there are no rules. Have fun, and good hunting.

Harare, Zimbabwe

Harare, Zimbabwe |  © Tawanda Kanhema, Google Maps

When I was little, I used to daydream I could buzz all over the world, hovering low enough over the landscape to see everything, but not so low I’d have to deal with the hassle of street lights and traffic. Or sometimes, I’d pretend I could ride the clouds and dive off whenever I came to a place I wanted to explore.

I never imagined it was the sort of dream that could come true, but it’s a feat I can accomplish any time–and in my pajamas no less.

In the case of this week’s location, it’s due to the generosity of of one person: Tawanda Kanhema. Tawanda Kanhema has spent $5,000 of his own money to travel to Zimbabwe and to bring homeland to the rest of the world.

This week Pegman, and Tawanda Kenhema take us to Harare, Zimbabwe. Your mission is to write up to 150 words inspired by the week’s location. Feel free to use the image supplied in the prompt, or take your own tour of Zimbabwe to find a view that inspires you.

Once your piece is polished, share wit with others using the linkup below. Reading and commenting on others’ work is part of the fun!
